Overachiever – Baby Isaiah Update

Good evening from Team Isaiah headquarters in Florida. A quick update on Isaiah, but first, an update on the two friends we prayed specifically for this morning:

Apryle:
After nearly 6 hours, Apryle made it out of surgery and is now in the recovery room. The surgeon said that everything went as planned and that she did great. We will continue to pray for her, Bill and their two sweet daughters. We will keep you posted on updates for her and how we can specifically pray for her.

Mark: We have not received an update from Mark yet and may not for a few days as he unfortunately doesn’t have any friends or family with him. We are confident God is with him and that we’ll have good news soon!

Ok, onto our little overachiever. Well, as our sweet friend Ashley said tonight, “when are they going to learn you can’t put limits on Isaiah because he’s got the power of God on his side?

Isaiah had his 1 month check up today with the greatest pediatrician on earth, Dr. Bonnie White. She had hoped he would weigh in the 7 lb, 10 ounce range (he was 7 lbs, 4 ounces at his last appt 2 weeks ago). No, not this little guy. 8 lbs, 11 ounces.  Yes, for our close followers, that’s 11. Shocking. NOT. This kid is so amazing. He is beyond all his milestones for even the “typical” 1 month old baby his size. He is 21 3/4″ long, having grown an inch and a quarter since birth. He’s just awesome. He has a bit of a head/nose cold, poor little guy. Something he likely caught from his Mommy unfortunately, but fortunately, because I caught it first, he should be getting what he needs from breastmilk to fight it off.

Once we tackled one appointment, we headed on for the marathon day of doctors / therapists. Off to Hope Haven we went for four appointments (yes, count ’em, four appointments for a one month old!) Paul and I were worried about how he’d do, given how tired he’d be, and whether or not he’d even be able to stay awake for each of the appointments. We met with Physical Therapy, followed by Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, then our case worker and sweet friend Laura at the Down Syndrome Center (DSC) at Hope Haven.

No surprise to anyone, this kid is way advanced for a one month old. He’s holding up his head, controlled, for 10-15 seconds at a time. His sucking reflex is fabulous. His awareness and tracking, ability to follow Mommy’s voice and Daddy’s voice, sounds and noise toys is second to none. This kid is truly amazing. His physical skills are that of a two-month old. He’s still rolling over, has awesome muscle control (with a little help sometimes)
and is just off the charts. They just can’t believe it. There were a lot of jaws dropping in the rooms he was in. He’s truly a miracle baby. No other way to describe it.

We just want to thank all of you for your continued prayers. We KNOW prayer works. We have so many people on our prayer list to share with you over the next few days. We will keep you posted, and please rest assured, if you’ve shared a prayer request with us, we have it, we’re praying for you and we’ll get Team Isaiah’s prayer warriors on it with us soon!

God bless!
