Trust in an Absolute – and Baby Isaiah Pics!

When we were in NICU at Wolfson, a delivery came from a local Hallmark store. If you were the fabulous gifter of that, we are sincerely appreciative. It was the first day I was able to go to NICU after being discharged and it was a little bit of organized chaos. I lost your business card. We are forever grateful. If you read this blog, please email me directly so we can properly thank you!

One of the gifts in the bag from the this awesome manager at Hallmark was a book called 100 Bible Verses to Bless Your Baby Boy. We read it to Isaiah each day. Today’s message is as follows:

Trust in an Absolute:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your path.”
~ Proverbs 3:5-6

One of the great essential sin life is to learn what it means to trust in the Lord with all your heart. The foundation that is established early in life will help you develop a strong sense of moral character in knowing what is right and what is wrong. God’s guidance is more than sufficient for all the tests and trials you may have to face. You will soon discover tests come in all shapes and sizes. God wants you to come to Him for all the wisdom you need.

Dependence on God is much like leaning on a giant oak tree. It will never fall down!

I love these little devotionals. LOVE them. What a great reminder for the foundation that we are called to establish for little Isaiah in his early years. This will help him develop the character that will stand the test of… ____________. You can fill in the blank, whether it be peer pressure, bullying, drinking, being promiscuous, cheating on a test…
whatever. THIS is the time. NOW is here. We are called to lead our children. And this sweet boy has already has his fair share of trials! Thankfully God has given us the best doctors to care of him!

Speaking of which, a few updates:

  • I have a meeting with the Chief Medical Officer at Wolfson next week to talk through ways our foundation can better assist the families and staff at Wolfson in the future! Please pray for an amazing meeting so we can help change more lives the way ours was changed at that spectacular place.

We have set up our appointment for Hope Haven for Monday. Not sure if I shared that yet. Hope Haven has a program specifically for kids with Down Syndrome, so regardless of the exact percentage, this is one of the great resources in the Jacksonville area for Isaiah.

  • We have contacted Early Steps,
another amazing program here in Jacksonville, who has therapists that come to your home, focus on the family as a unit in the home environment and work out some of the potential developmental challenges that lie ahead for our sweet angel.
  • Isaiah is eating like a CHAMP! He’s crossed the 100 ML barrier a few times.
  • Isaiah’s Daddy is a super star. That’s all I’m going to say about that right now. I’ll write an entire blog on that soon!
  • You’ll see below in a second, but Hitch seems to be warming up to the new addition! YAY!

Lastly but certainly not least, Isaiah had a BIG day yesterday. Our friend Meghan McCauley of Daydream Design came over for his newborn photo shoot (check her out on facebook at www.facebook.com/DaydreamDesign). The whole thing was surreal to me. He wasn’t supposed to be home from NICU yet! They weren’t wanting to discuss even a possible disharge date at all when he was admitted. And yet, here we are,
A mere 11 1/2 days later, and he’s all cuddled up in our house with the best newborn photographer in the world. Here’s a sneak peek of some of the images..

Also, one last note for today. (I know, you’re distracted by the photos… try to focus! We will likely be adding a new blog page called Team Isaiah so Paul can get back to doing his weekly updates on golf and things other than what’s happening under the roof of our home! We’ll keep you posted as we made that addition. It’ll only enhance the site, it’ll just change the navigation slightly.

Remember as you go about your day today: trust in Him. With ALL your heart. Give it ALL to Him, who is more capable than you can even fathom.
