A MILE IN MY SHOES
What Is “A Mile in My Shoes”?
A Note From Paul
I’m just like every other Dad with an energetic toddler. Except my son, Isaiah, just happens to have Down syndrome. I work as a caddie on the PGA TOUR for Webb Simpson and walk golf courses across the world for a living. My family lives in Ponte Vedra, FL (just outside Jacksonville) and loves giving back in a huge way. After raising about $17,000 in the 2016 season for the special needs community, I’m ready to put my sneakers to work for good, but I’m setting the bar a little higher: $20,000. I know we can get there, but I’m going to need your help!
Come with me inside the ropes each week on the PGA TOUR and walk a mile in my shoes. Well, maybe not literally. But I’m gearing up to share my experiences on TOUR and give you a taste of just how hard caddies work week in and week out on the road. While my challenges differ from many children and adults with special needs, they are challenges all the same.
Las year, my wife and I came up with a fun unique way to raise money for our Foundation’s special needs programs. You can help us by pledging to donate for every mile I walk during the 2016-2107 PGA TOUR season. We head to Napa for the Safeway Open on October 10, 2016 and hope to wrap up the season on October 1 at the Presidents Cup at Liberty National Golf Club.
PLEDGE TO WIN! Each month, we’ll draw a winner from that month’s pledges… well, Isaiah will! And he loves it! Prizes range from autographed items to electronics, from event tickets to restaurant gift certificates and more! But wait… it gets EVEN BETTER! Pledge your support before the conclusion of the US Open (Father’s Day – June 18th) and by simply guessing how many miles I’ll put on my caddie sneaks this year, you’ll be entered for the chance to win a 2018 TPC Experience Package. The package includes: round trip airfare for two (2) anywhere JetBlue flies, four (4) weekly passes to The PLAYERS Championship at the famed and newly redesigned TPC Sawgrass, and many more fantastic prizes! The big winner will be the person who guesses closest to the number of miles I will walk on the links between our first event of this year at the Safeway Open and (hopefully) our close-out event of the season at the 2017 Presidents Cup. Last season, Nancy Nilsen was only HALF a mile off. That’s right. Competition is fierce! We’ll announce the winner the first week in October, 2017.
To kick off this campaign, Michelle and I are personally pledging $1.00 for every mile I walk this season and challenge you to join me. With 955.5 miles on my sneaks last season, I’m gearing up for at least 1,000 this year, which means we’ve gotta make a few more cuts, so get out there, get online and cheer on Team Simpson! I can’t wait to surprise myself with how many miles I walk in the coming months! Hope my sneakers are ready! I know my Kentwool socks are!
Your support means the absolute world to me and my family. We are forever grateful for your pledge to help us support the special needs community that means so much to us.
Do good by loving others,
How it works.

Paul walks, we send updates
Paul hits the links and records his miles walked each ‘working day.’ Our team sends mileage updates and behind-the-scenes photos from each tournament. You’ll want in on this. Trust us.
- 6-8 miles per round on average
- Average of 2 practice rounds per tournament (typically Tues & Wed)
- 4 competitive rounds per tournament (Thurs – Sun)
- Approximately 18-20 cuts made (varies each season)
- 40+ miles per tournament (if we make the cut!)
100% of your pledge will fund our special needs programs. Don’t worry, we’ll do the math for you. For anyone who pledges prior to May , you’ll have the option to be billed 1x or 2x per year. For anyone pledging after May 1st, we’ll communicate with you at the conclusion of the PGA TOUR season (approximately October 3, 2016).
